Author
: |
R
Pavananthi Vembulu |
Pub. Details : |

Books, New Delhi, 2004 |
Notes : |
The
study circles down on the problematic over defining what
Europe means; Second, how this contingent nature of Europe has
compelled the European Union to no longer skirt away the
question of identity if it is to consolidate the process and
expand its boundary towards east. By focusing upon the
cultural policy of the Union, the study brings forth the
various efforts of the Union, particularly the European
Commission to transform the loyalties and identities of people
from the national crucible to a broader European spectrum.
Thirdly, the study critically evaluates these policy
initiatives and highlights how they are structured around the
nineteenth century colonial discourse of Europe.

primary material , Shourie argues that the only way ahead is to
revolutionalise the nature of the Indian State - from the

‘50s and ‘60s, from ‘The Great Monitor’ it became in the
‘70s and ‘80s, to an enabling State, a State that clears the
way so that others may do their best for the country... A rare
glimpse into what has become of governance.

Most
designated CEO successors are talented, hardworking, and
smart enough to go all the way--yet fail to land the top
job. What they don't realize is, the qualities that
helped them in their climb to the number two position
aren't enough to boost them to No. 1. In addition to
running their businesses well, the author explains,
would-be CEOs must master the art of forming coalitions

Post-MFA:
making the textile and garment industry competitive / by
Danish A Hashim [EPW, 8 January 2005]
|
With
the Multi-Fibre Agreement (MFA) coming to an end on 1
January 2005, competition in the Indian textile and
garment industries will increase manifold. One of the
main factors determining their competitiveness would be
unit cost, where India has fared poorly in the recent
past. The unit cost depends upon factor prices and
productivity level. This study attempts to examine these
factors in detail for the cotton yarn and garment
industries for selected states using panel data analysis
for 1989-97. Textile
